Icon Oncology and Avisena Specialist Hospital 2 expand access to advanced cancer care in Klang Valley

Icon Oncology Malaysia Strengthens Specialist Cancer Care
in Klang Valley

Icon Oncology Malaysia expands specialist care in the Klang Valley with enhanced clinical leadership, a dedicated women’s cancer programme and the region’s first HILOTHERAPY® ChemoCare service.

Kuala Lumpur, 17 October 2026 – Icon Oncology Malaysia (Icon Oncology) is expanding access to specialist cancer care across the Klang Valley, bringing together an experienced team of clinical oncologists and new patient-centred initiatives to deliver the best care possible throughout every stage of the cancer experience.

The expanded service builds on Icon’s existing presence in the region, including centres at LifeCare Diagnostic Medical Centre in Bangsar South, Avisena Specialist Hospital 2 in Shah Alam and the Island Hospital in Penang.

A multidisciplinary team with deep clinical expertise

Icon Oncology’s services in the Klang Valley will be delivered by an experienced team of oncologists including Dr Arnil George Sirimanne, Dr Lee Hong Moi and Dr Nurul Iman Fathi. Together, the doctors offer a multidisciplinary approach across different cancer types and treatments.

Dr Arnil’s broad experience covers solid cancers, with a focus on advanced radiotherapy and multidisciplinary, supportive care.

Dr Lee brings expertise in advanced radiation oncology techniques, cancer research and clinical trials.

Dr Iman specialises in breast, gynaecological, liver and head and neck cancers, alongside advanced radiotherapy and systemic therapies.

Another recent addition to the Icon Oncology team in Malaysia is esteemed Prof Dato’ Dr Fuad bin Ismail, who has more than three decades of experience in oncology, having previously served as Professor and Head of the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC).

Over the course of his career, Prof Dato’ has helped train generations of oncologists, while contributing to the development of cancer treatment protocols, clinical practice guidelines, and national cancer initiatives in Malaysia, and the wider region.

I’m looking forward to being part of a team that looks beyond treatment and considers the whole patient journey,

Icon Oncology’s commitment to evidence-based care, access to the latest treatments and support for each patient’s individual needs reflects the comprehensive approach to cancer care that is so important. By working together across disciplines, we have an opportunity to support patients through every stage of their experience to continue delivering the best care possible to people across Malaysia.

Supporting women through every stage of cancer care

Icon Oncology is introducing the Icon Oncology Women’s Cancer Program to support the needs of women with different cancer types throughout their care experience.

The programme addresses needs during and after treatment, including fertility, genetic testing, menopause, body image, hair loss, nerve-related side effects, emotional wellbeing and life after cancer. It combines medical care with support for the broader realities women may face.

Cancer does not affect every patient in the same way, and women may have concerns that extend beyond the treatment of the disease itself. By recognising these concerns, we hope to give women greater confidence and reassurance as they navigate the different stages of their cancer care experience.

- Serena Wee, Chief Executive Officer of Icon ASEAN

Bringing supportive-care innovation to Malaysia

Icon Oncology will be the first cancer care provider to bring HILOTHERAPY® ChemoCare to Klang Valley, Malaysia, giving patients access to an innovative supportive-care option designed to help manage some of the side effects of chemotherapy.

The system provides targeted cooling for the scalp, hands and feet during chemotherapy. Scalp cooling is designed to help reduce chemotherapy-induced hair loss, while cooling of the hands and feet is intended to help prevent chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) and hand-foot syndrome (HFS).

For patients undergoing chemotherapy, concerns such as hair loss and nerve-related side effects can have an impact beyond the physical effects of treatment. By making supportive-care options such as HILOTHERAPY® ChemoCare available alongside oncology treatment, Icon Oncology seeks to give patients additional support in managing potential side effects during chemotherapy.

Initiatives like these form part of Icon Oncology’s broader efforts to strengthen cancer care in the region, bringing together clinical expertise, specialised programmes and supportive services across its network.

Healthcare is ultimately about people, and we are pleased to be part of an initiative that brings together experienced clinicians, specialised services and new approaches to cancer care.

- Audrey Ooi, Co-CEO of Icon Sunsuria Sdn Bhd

“As we continue to develop our healthcare offering, we hope to reach more people in the community and make a meaningful difference to patients and their families.”
