Dato' Dr. Fuad Bin Ismail is a highly respected Clinical Oncologist with more than three decades of experience in cancer care, medical education, clinical research, and healthcare leadership.
He treats a wide range of cancers, with special interests in breast, cervical, and colorectal cancers, while maintaining a strong focus on advancing evidence-based oncology practice and improving access to cancer treatment in Malaysia.
Dr. Fuad graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) before pursuing specialist training in Clinical Oncology in Glasgow, Scotland.
In 1996, he obtained both the Fellowship of the Royal College of Radiologists (FRCR), United Kingdom, and the Fellowship of the Faculty of Radiologists, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (FFR RCSI), reflecting his advanced specialist training in oncology.
Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Fuad has held several key leadership positions, including serving as Professor and Head of the Department of Radiotherapy and Oncology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (UKMMC).
In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he has played an integral role in training future oncologists as a lecturer, supervisor, and examiner for the Master of Clinical Oncology programme.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Fuad has made significant contributions to cancer policy and service development in Malaysia. He has been actively involved in the development of national cancer initiatives, including the National Cancer Blueprint, Systemic Therapy of Cancer Protocols, and Clinical Practice Guidelines for breast and cervical cancers.
He has also served on several Ministry of Health Malaysia committees related to oncology and was the National Coordinator for the Regional Cooperative Agreement (RCA) Project with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), working to strengthen cancer services across the region.
A passionate advocate for research and innovation, Dr. Fuad has contributed extensively to oncology research as a principal investigator and collaborator in numerous clinical studies. His work spans clinical trials, drug development, and value-based medicine, with a particular interest in improving access to innovative cancer therapies for patients in Malaysia.
He has authored numerous scientific publications and is a regular speaker at medical conferences and educational programmes in Malaysia and the region.
Dr. Fuad remains committed to delivering evidence-based, patient-centred cancer care while contributing to the continued advancement of oncology through research, education, and collaboration.
He is an active committee member of the Malaysian Oncological Society and continues to play an important role in shaping the future of cancer care in Malaysia.
